After eruption of volcano Merapi last year (2010), there are much change along hiking trail Pasar Bubrah – Summit of Merapi. Mostly half of the trail up summit dominated by volcanic sand, easier to be descended but harder to be ascended. Simply, the trails can be divided into two sections of phase:
1) Sandy Section: This section dominated by volcanic sand. Walking is much harder due to easily to slide backward.Try edging and walk by walking stick are the best ways to make the ascent easier.
2) Solid Rock Section: At the end of sandy section, there are two options:
* Turn left: Follow volcanic rock formation up heads for summit. The rock is solid but little big steeper. Using hand to keep balance while moving up is the best way to tackle this section.
* Turn Right; The trail is not totally consist of sand, but also gravel, unstable volcanic rock and dust.Rock fall from upper side always direct to this section, so…always watch up ( Specially when there are many other hikers ), and considered to wear helmet.

OVERLAND TO BALI VIA SPECTACULAR NATURES OF EAST JAVA 4DAYS 3NIGHTS. BROMO – IJEN – SUKAMADE – MERU BETIRI
An amazing unforgetable long trip to Bali via Bromo and Meru Betiri national park.
Day 1: Leaving from Yogyakarta at 08.30 am to Mt. Bromo ( this trip will be a long trip, around 11 hours ). Bromo mountain is the most stunning volcano landscape of Java.
Day 2: From the hotel we will leave at 3.30 am. The Jeep will pick you up to see sunrise at Panjakan Mountain, the Bromo craters and the Hindhu tempels. After that the jeep will drop you at your hotel. If you prefer you can also walk to the hotel, that will be around 45 min. After breakfast we leave at 10.00 am to Ijen Craters (Kawah Ijen), we arrive at Sempol Village around 5.00 am (so will be drive around 6/7 hours). You will stay in Catimor Homestay near the coffee plantation.
Day 3: We leave from the hotel at 01.00 am to go to Post Poltuding (rest point) and then we have a trekking of 3 km (around 1,5 hours) to the Ijen crater to see the blue fire, sulfur crater, ijen lake, nice panorama and the sunrise. A local guide will join you for this. Then you will go back to Paltuding for a short rest (15 min). In the morning you will get a take away breakfast from the hotel. We leave again at 08.00 am to Licin Village or Banywangi (around 1-2 hours). There we will change to Land rover or Jeep 4×4 to Sukamade Beach (Turtles bay). You will arrive around 4.00 pm at Wisma Homestay in Meru Betiri National Park. At 07.00 pm you will have an indonesian dinner at Wisma in Meru Betiri. We leave again at 8.00 pm until 11.00 pm. We will drive with the Jeep to the turtle beach (around 30 min.). We will walk around 100 meter to the turtle beach with rangers, where you can see the sea turtle laying eggs. We wait on Sukamade beach to see this. Almost every night you will meet one of these oldest reptiles in the world on Sukamade Beach. After we are finished we will go back to Wisma Homestay.
Day 4: In the morning will go back to Sukamade beach at 05.00/06.00 am to release baby turtles into the sea. After we will go back to Wisma Homestay for breakfast, packing or shower. We leave at 08.00 am from Meru Betiri to Ketapang Harbour, where you can get a ferry to bali.
